Rabbi Yehuda Glick, a prominent campaigner for Jewish prayer rights on the Temple Mount, was shot several times in Jerusalem after a conference titled "Israel Returns to the Temple Mount". The Guardian reported his condition as serious but stable, and police took the rare step of closing the compound to all visitors. The attempt on Glick's life showed the campaign for Jewish prayer had become a target in itself.
