Clashes erupted on the Temple Mount on 8 October 1990 amid reports that the Temple Mount Faithful planned to enter the compound to lay the cornerstone of a Third Temple. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported at least 19 Palestinians killed and well over 100 people wounded, including Jewish worshippers. A small group's plan to mark the site of a future Temple was enough to set off one of the deadliest days on the Mount.
