Published Catholic Sinicisation plan requires acceptance of Party leadership

UCA News published its translation of a 15-page, five-year plan issued by China’s state-backed Catholic Patriotic Association and bishops’ conference. The 2018–2022 programme called for acceptance of Communist Party leadership, support for the socialist system and interpretation of church teaching in the context of contemporary China. Dioceses were told to prepare their own plans. The document joins religious administration to explicit political commitments.
