Eleven first-mover countries, including Bangladesh, Estonia, Ethiopia, Norway, Singapore and Sierra Leone, launched the 50-in-5 campaign for digital public infrastructure: digital payments, ID and data-exchange systems, described as a critical accelerator of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The goal is for 50 countries to design, launch and scale at least one component by the end of 2028. Partners include the Gates Foundation, the Digital Public Goods Alliance and UNDP; 41 countries have since joined.
