Vatican Document Urges Catholics to 'Esteem' Other Religions

A new Vatican document, "A Journey of Hope," approved by Pope Leo XIV and issued by three Vatican offices to mark the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, calls on Catholics to regard the doctrines of other religions with "respect and esteem," states that Muslims adore the one God, and warns against Islamophobia. The document frames interreligious dialogue as central to the Church's mission while making no mention of conversion. This marks a further institutional step toward treating diverse faith traditions as spiritually equivalent rather than distinct, a trend consistent with growing pressure toward religious convergence ahead of any future global crisis.
