Donald Trump signed the Board of Peace charter at Davos on 22 January 2026. It names him as inaugural chairman, with no fixed term, and requires him to designate a successor. Member states have renewable terms of up to three years; those contributing more than US$1 billion in cash within the charter's first year are exempt from that term limit. The board's charter has a wider peace-building mission than the Gaza role authorised by the UN Security Council.
