A joint statement by the United States, Sudan and Israel on 23 October 2020 announced that the leaders agreed to normalise relations and end the state of belligerence between Sudan and Israel. They agreed to begin economic and trade ties, initially focused on agriculture, with further negotiations to follow. Sudan hosted the 1967 summit that declared no peace with Israel, so its normalisation marked how far the region had moved.
