Oman rescues 25 from burning tanker as Iran halts ships in Hormuz

Oman evacuated 25 crew from the burning crude tanker RITI in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran's Revolutionary Guard said three oil tankers, including a supertanker, were halted or exploded after using "unauthorised routes". Tehran has asserted control over much of the waterway since the US-Israeli war began on 28 February, while US Central Command says the main transit routes are cleared of mines. The contested claims show the Iran war is still disrupting a critical oil chokepoint, keeping the wider regional conflict and the risk of renewed US involvement live.
