Italy's Catholic bishops' conference, with a Vatican Islamic studies institute and the Italian embassy to the Holy See, launched an 11-module Islamic education programme for teachers of Catholic religion in state schools. Drafted with Muslim organisations, it describes the Koran as the "revealed Word of God", and Cardinal Matteo Zuppi called Catholic classes a "laboratory of culture and dialogue" rather than catechism. The move shows interfaith accommodation reaching into classrooms, where it blurs the Bible's claim that Christ is the unique and final revelation of God (John 14:6; Hebrews 1:1-2).
