Gulf states draft multipart deal to reopen Hormuz and avert renewed US-Iran war

Gulf states are brokering a multipart deal under which Iran would reopen the strait of Hormuz four days after sanctions are lifted, while Houthi forces withdraw inside Yemen. The US is holding out for concessions such as readmitting UN weapons inspectors, which Iran has so far refused. Iran is also pressing for a regional security pact that would reduce or end the US presence in the Middle East, a possible realignment of power around Israel's neighbours if a deal holds.
