Green party votes to treat Zionism as racism and back single Palestinian state

The Guardian·4 October 2026

Delegates at the Green party conference in Brighton voted 1,022 to 813 for a binding policy treating Zionism as "any other form of racism" and calling for Israel to be replaced by a single Palestinian state. Four of the party's five MPs opposed it, Jewish groups called it antisemitic, Israel barred leader Zack Polanski from entry, and legal challenge is expected. The vote shows a mainstream Western party adopting a position that denies Israel's statehood, a hostility toward Israel and the Jewish homeland that Scripture portrays as a recurring pressure on Jerusalem and the nations (Zechariah 12:3).
