Fingerprint cards and signed protocols tie AI agents to verified humans

Biometric Update·20 October 2026

At Authenticate U.S. and Money20/20, Token launched a fingerprint smart card for authenticating both staff and AI agents, Proof released protocols for identity-verified, signed agent transactions, and Microsoft extended security controls for enterprise agents. Together they build an identity layer in which automated purchases and payments depend on biometric authorisation linked to a verified person. This is early commercial rollout, but it shows biometric identity becoming a condition for taking part in digital commerce, a pattern worth watching alongside wider moves toward enforceable access to economic life.
