Ethiopia, India, Pakistan Export Digital ID Systems Across Global South

Ethiopia's Faydaverse, India's Aadhaar-based "India Stack" and Pakistan's NADRA are now exporting their national digital identity frameworks commercially, with dozens of countries in Africa and Asia signing agreements to adopt these biometric ID, payment and data-sharing architectures. This turns digital identity infrastructure into a traded commodity, accelerating the spread of centralized biometric identification linked to payment systems as the default model for government services. The rapid normalization of such integrated identity-and-payment systems reflects a global move toward infrastructure capable of controlling access based on verified identity.
