The Digital ID and Authentication Council of Canada has published a report after a workshop of real estate, energy and finance representatives, urging biometric identity binding, interoperable registries and verifiable credentials to end repeated identity checks. It notes British Columbia's 2.6 million Services Card users, a digital version due this year and "tell us once" services by 2030. The proposal avoids a single central registry, but it shows biometric identity becoming shared infrastructure across property, trade and finance, which is the kind of access architecture that deserves scrutiny for how participation may later be conditioned.
