DHS launches $440M government-wide biometric capture procurement

Notable specifications include facial recognition devices able to capture vehicle occupants at land border crossings and standoff cameras reading faces from up to 400 metres, feeding into CBP's traveler verification systems. This consolidation moves federal government toward a unified, government-wide biometric identity infrastructure, expanding routine facial and multimodal identification well beyond traditional border checkpoints.
